Diploma of Foundation Studies - Health and Life Sciences

Basic Information

The programme aims to deliver a quality education, with vocational and generic elements, that will enable students to achieve both the basic skills required for developing a career in the industry, and a sound academic foundation for further studies. The programme focuses heavily on communication, in particular English, Chinese with Putonghua and Information Technology, as these areas are particularly important in the workplace. Emphasis is also placed on the development of interpersonal skills and teamwork, and a student-centred approach.

Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.

Entrance Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary 6 (under the New Senior Secondary Academic Structure); OR
  • Equivalent

 

Articulation
Graduates of Diploma of Foundation Studies are eligible to apply for VTC’s Higher Diploma programmes, which normally require five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including Chinese Language and English Language.
Graduates of Diploma of Foundation Studies - Health and Life Sciences may apply for admission to the first year entry into Degree programmes from School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences and School of Biological and Marine Sciences at Plymouth University.
 
Career Prospects
The programme equips students with skills required for employment in the health and life sciences’ sectors and also prepares them for further studies.
